The Pokégear is available from the start and includes several important apps. The more Pokémon you catch, the more apps and extra features you unlock. The quest "The Pokédex" is all about this progress. Here’s an overview.

The Map has been around since Generation 1, yet this version is packed with useful features.
Switch the map mode to view information about quests, berries, or roaming Pokémon.
Click on routes or towns to learn more about them.
Click on routes twice to view statistics about trainers, items, and wild Pokémon.
Click on routes once more to view the encounters available in that area.
Use the “QuickFly” menu to quickly travel to specific locations. (Fly required)
6. Searching for encounters directly from the Pokédex displays their locations on the map.

9. Mouse support: Select locations directly on the map with your mouse.

A simple app that displays the weaknesses, resistances, and immunities of all types.
Shows the encounters available in your current location, categorized by type and time of day. If you haven’t seen a Pokémon yet, a “?” will appear.
The stars indicate a rough estimate of the IV values from the start (Bronze, Silver, Gold). Once unlocked, you can view the exact EVs and IVs as well as the Hidden Power type directly.
The Pokédex receives a major update, adding many useful details such as base stats, possible breeding partners, abilities, and moves.
Creates a unique Legacy overview for each Pokémon, recording numerous details about your shared journey. Simply click once on the second tab, “Trainer Info.” Available from the start.
