It is a practice that can be complete quickly and have a calming effect. You can complete it in 3 easy steps.
1) Breathe in for 4 seconds
2) Hold the breath for 7 second
3) breathe out for 8 seconds.
You can complete this cycle 3 times. You can follow the video below as a guide. It will keep count for you so you can focus on the breath.
Box Breathing is a simple technique that goes 4 breaths in, holding it for 4 seconds, breathe out for 4 seconds and hold 4 seconds on the out breath. And then repeat.
This technique is quick and has been linked with reducing stress in Navy Seals!
