Known for being the largest desert in Illumire, the Akranians have adapted to their lifestyle quite well and as city-states associated with each other mainly through trade the large desert has become the center of all trade in Elsvyr. With Kaldian silks, spices, and minerals and Barrier stone and metalwork from the South, Islander fruits and dyes from the East, Eldorian magic goods and foods to the north and the West's plentiful crop harvests, Akyran has little to boast for in terms of production save for the shrewd salesmen and caravaners who brave the vast deserts of the nation. The West, which is also united with the other city-states under the trade alliance, differs greatly from the eastern desert and supplies much of the meager food that can be found across the desert and is also a hub for adventurers looking to brave the great sandy wastes. By far the richest race of Akyran is the Catfolk whom hold most of the seats on the Council of Trade which is the closest thing the United Cities of Akyran have to a government. While the catfolk have long been the heads of trade in the nation the united cities boasts some of the most diverse demographics and cultures. Overall little unities the cities save for their love of trade, coin, and religion.

The eastern island controlled by Akyran is actually populated by native islanders more
similar to the people of the Southern Islands than they are to the Akyran mainland. As such, most
natives do not know their island home as "Dahbi Alsheriq," but rather as Tuhinga. The Tuhingans
have villages dotted all across the island, though primarily located close to the shore. The
capital from which Akyran tensely rules the satrapy is the centrally located city of Qalb. Qalb is
mostly a military installation, with its location serving as a great hub for patrols
across the island. Historically, it has also been military figures who have been appointed as
Satrap of the island, as opposed to noblemen or otherwise wealthy and connected people. The
island's economy is largely based around fishing, tropical fruit, and, especially, significant gold
deposits found in the rugged interior surrounding Qalb. The output of the Tuhingan gold miners has
proved to be a great boon for the Akyran economy, as the Satrapy is the leading producer of gold
in the empire.
