Areluma was the first being in the universe, she existed before time and she lived in harmony with the Void, the pure absence of reality. Areluma is the Primordial Being of Light and is the mother of the gods. As recorded in the Account of Creation , Areluma and Beleg gave event to the four planes of the elements:
"Areluma, space, existence, lived and saw the never ending darkness. She then began to think, to create ideas and concepts. As she looked into the void there began a beat. A rhythm of a steady heartbeat that would be the foundation for all of creation. A rhythm that would not be recognized until the Ancients, Time. Beleg, as Time was named, lay dormant as the void surrounded Areluma. From Space and Time came the four Elements." (Account of Creation, First Age of Creation, 2-4)
After the birth of the four pillars of the pantheon, Gnar rose above the rest claiming superiority over all creation. In his fight for power the god of fire climbed to the peak of the celestial plane to the Throne of Light. Upon arriving at the throne he slaughtered his mother and threw her pieces to earth. In her last act of life the light of heaven graced the people of the earth with everlasting life in the celestial plane, an act which stripped Gnar of his power over death.
This account of Areluma's death was passed down from the Ancients and permeates the fables and tales of the gods throughout the world. This event is one of the few universally accepted divine occurrences. The Donum Animam or "Gift of the Soul" as the event was named is reported to have occurred during the 3rd Age of Creation, estimated to be over 4000 years before the founding of the First Modern Age.
