๐Ÿ”ฅ Now we're fully unleashing WEEK 9 โ€“ KICKSMASH & VARIATION,

exactly the same professional structure as the previous weeks.

Here, players will learn advanced kick smash techniques with rotation, speed, and precision, making them harder to defend.


๐ŸŽฏ MAIN OBJECTIVE WEEK 9

Players will be able to execute a kick smash with topspin, varying speed, and direction to pressure the opponent and score points.


๐Ÿ“š PLAYER LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Recognize high point of contact when lobbed by opponent

Executing a kick smash with topspin

Varying direction and speed (angle, body, diagonal)

Optimizing body position and footwork

Adopting a recovery position after a smash

Making conscious tactical choices: applying pressure or controlling

Observe 2 players during a rally with an opponent's lob:

Recognizes player Lob height and speed?

Is the player positioned correctly for the entry?

Execute a kick smash or a neutral lob?

Determine direction/speed?

Setup:

Coach plays a high lob towards the player at the back

Player starts at the back, step in for the kick smash

Assignment:

Smash with topspin towards a diagonal corner

Alternating between speed and control

10 repetitions per player

Coaching phrases:

โ€œStep in, point of contact high in front of the body.โ€

โ€œUse the wrist for spin and direction.โ€

โ€œCompact arm action.โ€

โ€œRecover immediately after the hit.โ€

Warm-up

Rally form: backhand โ†’ lob โ†’ kick smash

"Stay balanced during the stroke."


Core 1 โ€“ Technique (Applying GRASS)

GRIP Continental or light Eastern

POINT OF INTERFACE High in front of the body, slightly behind the ball for spin

ARM ACTION Upward with wrist rotation (topspin)

STANCE Shoulders diagonal, weight forward, knees slightly bent


Drill: Direction & Variation

Player B receives a lob from the coach:

Step in, small step


Point of contact high, in front of the body

Kick smash diagonally / towards the feet / along the glass

Recover to net position

Coaching phrases:

โ€œVariation: fast or controlled.โ€

โ€œTurn wrist slightly for spin.โ€

โ€œRecover immediately to the center.โ€


Common mistakes
