Controlling your emotions
WEEK 11 – NET-SPECIFIC ADVANCED. Here we focus on advanced net shots: Bajada, Gancho, and control volleys, so players can truly finish points and maintain pressure.
🎯 MAIN OBJECTIVE WEEK 11
Players can execute advanced net shots (Bajada, Gancho, Control volley) with correct positioning, timing, and tactical choice to effectively finish points.
📚 PLAYER LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Recognize and correctly execute Bajada and Gancho
Play volleys with control, low ball, pressure on the opponent
Optimize positioning at the net (wide support surface, low stance)
Improve timing and footwork for advanced shots
Recovery after shots and maintain team agreements
Make tactical choices visible: finish the shot, maintain pressure, build neutrally
🎓 TRAINEE LEARNING OBJECTIVE
Recognize the correct moment for an advanced shot (observe + decide)
Apply GRASS: Grip, Point of Contact, Arm Action, Stance
Name a maximum of 3 technical/tactical points of attention per player
Keep coaching short and specific
Have players reflect on shot choice and results
📍 TRAINING 1 – OBSERVE + ASSIST (2 hours)
1️⃣ Observation Assignment
Observe 2 players at the net:
OBSERVE
Recognize player's lob height suitable for Bajada / Gancho?
Is your positioning correct (wide support base, weight forward, knees slightly bent)?
DECIDE
Do you choose Bajada, Gancho, or a controlled volley?
Direction: diagonal, opponent's feet, glass?
EXECUTE
Point of contact high and in front of the body
Arm action compact for Bajada/Gancho
Volleys low and controlled
REPORT
Point made or pressure built up?
Recovery correct after the shot?
Are team agreements visible?
