WEEK 8 – SMASH & MAKE A POINT, the real decisive weapon at the net.
We maintain the same structure as in previous weeks: realistic playing style, GRASS technique, 4-step padel handling, and coaching phrases.

Players can execute a smash under controlled conditions to finish the point, with correct timing, position, and technique.

📍 TRAINING 1 – OBSERVE + ASSIST (2 hours)
1️⃣ Observation Assignment
Observe 2 players at the moment of a smash:
OBSERVE
Does the player recognize a high ball?
Does the player position themselves correctly?
Split step/small steps when stepping in?
DECIDE
Smash to the opponent's corner or body? Do you prefer power or precision?
EXECUTE
Point of impact high and in front of the body?
Compact arm action?
Balancing the body?
REFACE
Point made or pressure applied?
Recover correctly after the impact?
2️⃣ Drill – Smash repetition
Setup:
Coach plays a high lob to the player at the back.
Player starts at the back, step in for the smash.
Assignment:
Execute the smash towards the diagonal corner or the opponent's feet.
10 repetitions per player
Coaching phrases:
"Step in, don't jump too early."
"Point of impact high in front of the body."
"Compact arm action."
"Recover immediately after the impact."

📍 TRAINING 2 – SMASH TECHNIQUE (2 hours)
Warm-up
Rally form: backhand → lob → smash
Focus: Timing and body position
Coaching:
“Look where you're going to hit.”
“Compact and controlled.”
“Move with the ball.”
Core 1 – Technique (applying GRASS)
GRIP Continental or light Eastern
POINT OF INTERFACE High in front of the body
ARM ACTION Short, powerful upward swing
STANCE Shoulders diagonal, weight on the forefoot, slightly bent knees
Drill: Smash + Placement
Player B receives a lob from the coach:
Step in, small step
Point of contact high, in front of the body
Smash diagonally or towards the feet
Recover to net position
Coaching phrases:
“High and diagonal.”
“Use your wrist for direction.”
“Recover immediately for the next ball.”
Common mistakes
❌ Jumping too early or stepping in too late
❌ Hitting the ball too far from the body
❌ Swinging too far / off balance
❌ No clear target
Correction:
“Step in, stay low in the starting position.”
“Point of contact in front of your hips.”
“Compact movement.”
“Recover after the shot.”
📍 TRAINING 3 – TACTICAL INTRODUCTION (2 hours)
Theme: Choosing the Smash Moment
Drill – Decision Moment:
Coach alternates between high and low lob shots
Player announces: “Smash” or “Control lob”
Post-shot evaluation: Was the choice correct?
Focus: Observe → Decide → Execute → Feedback
Coaching:
“Choose wisely, not every high ball is a smash.”
“Focus on angle or feet.”
“Recover immediately after the shot.”
