🎾 WEEK 7 – VIBORA
Attacking overhead
Focus:
More rotation
Side spin
Towards the side glass
Purpose: Apply pressure
WEEK 7 – NET CONTROL & TRANSITION. Here, players truly learn the difference between neutral defense and attacking play.
🎯 MAIN OBJECTIVE WEEK 7
Players recognize moments to gain net position through transition and execute this in a controlled manner with attacking intent. 📚 PLAYER LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Recognize short balls for transition to the net
Play deep and low approach balls
Correct positioning when taking over the net
Execute the first volley offensively
Team agreements: left/right position
Make conscious choices: maintain pressure or build up pressure
🎓 TRAINEE LEARNING OBJECTIVE
Identify the player's transition moment
Correct a maximum of 3 key points per player
Apply GRASS: point of contact, arm action, position at the volley
Have players reflect on tactical choices
Coaching limited and concrete
📍 TRAINING 1 – OBSERVING + ASSISTING (2 hours)
1️⃣ Observation Assignment
Observe 2 players during transition:
OBSERVE
Do they recognize short balls?
Split step upon arrival at the net?
Position partner correctly?
DECIDE
Directly take the net or wait?
Play the first volley high or low?
EXECUTION
Is the approach depth correct?
Is the racket head stable on the first volley?
REPORT
Did the team maintain pressure on the opponent?
Was the choice tactically correct?
2️⃣ Drill – Transition to the Net
Line-up:
Coach alternates between short and light balls.
Player starts at the back.
Assignment:
Short ball → play deep → pass to the net.
First volley cross.
Coaching phrases:
“Do you see the short ball?”
“Play deep and go!”
“Split step upon arrival at the net.”
“The first volley is control, not a winner.”
Observation (max. 3 points)
Depth approach
Split step timing
First volley position and control
📍 TRAINING 2 – NET TAKING OVER TECHNIQUE (2 hours)
Warm-up
Back form → short ball → net taking over
Focus:
Strike + movement, one action
Low volley
Coaching:
"Strike and go!"
"Stay low at the net."
"Control over power."
Core 1 – Technique (Applying GRASS to transition + volley)
GRIP Continental
POINT OF INTERACTION In front of body, net height
ARM ACTION Compact, short movement
STANCE Body low, weight forward
Drill – Net takeover with attack
Player A at the back → short ball → deep to the net
Player B at the net → first volley attacking, aimed at the opponent's feet
Player B resets to a center position
Coaching phrases:
“Block instead of swinging.”
“Towards the opponent's feet.”
“Recover immediately to the center.”
Common mistakes
❌ Hesitating on the short ball
❌ Volley too high or flat
❌ No split step upon reaching the net
Correction:
“Decide and go.”
“Volley low and controlled.”
“Split step upon hitting your partner.”
📍 TRAINING 3 – TACTICAL CHOICE (2 hours)
Topic: When do you take over the net?
Exercise – Transition Point
2-on-2 Rally
Before the shot, the player must say: "Take over the net" or "Stay back"
After the rally:
Was the choice logical?
Did the team maintain pressure?
Were the shots executed correctly?
Here you practice: Observation → Decision → Execution → Feedback
📊 WEEK 7 – TRAINEE REFLECTION
What went well?
Players recognize short balls more quickly
Net takeovers executed more smoothly
Coaching limited and clear
What could be improved? Approach balls more consistently deep and low
First volley more focused on opponent's feet
Increase tempo in rally forms
📷 Visual reference: Transition + Net control
Note:
Strike + movement = one action
Low, compact volley
Split step timing upon arrival
Recovery position after volley
