IFSU Kicks Off AUN‑QA
Curriculum Reframing Workshop
IFSU-OVPAA |12-02-25| formally opened today a four-day training-workshop on curriculum reframing anchored on the ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) principles. Held at the Audio-Visual Room of the Main Campus, Ifugao State University, the activity is part of the university’s continuing efforts to align academic programs with international standards and prepare priority offerings for accreditation.
The opening ceremony featured a welcome message from Dr. Jennifer Madonna Garingan-Dait, Vice President for Academic Affairs, who underscored the importance of the workshop in strengthening institutional readiness and ensuring that program outcomes are harmonized with both national and ASEAN benchmarks. She highlighted the need for faculty engagement in the process, stressing that curriculum reframing is central to producing graduates who are globally competitive yet locally responsive. Jill B. Saquing, OIC Director for Quality Assurance, followed with the workshop orientation, outlining the objectives and expected outputs of the four-day activity. She emphasized clarity of purpose, collaboration, and adherence to quality assurance standards as guiding principles for the sessions.
Atty. Leah Lagmay-Rosario, executive assistant to the university president, delivered the inspirational message on behalf of the university president, reminding participants that their involvement was purposeful and meaningful. She encouraged full engagement, connecting the activity to a higher calling by noting that all efforts are ultimately for God. This theme was reinforced by the reflective music video presentation of “Five Loaves and Two Fishes” by Janelle Salvador, which framed the day’s sessions with a sense of mission and shared responsibility.
The morning plenary sessions introduced the AUN-QA Programme Framework and its components, with Dr. Garingan-Dait discussing expected learning outcomes and Dr. Matronillo M. Martin elaborating on curriculum architecture under outcome-based education. Dr. Leonard Ivan T. Melana facilitated the second session, focusing on the integration of the university’s vision, mission, goals, and objectives into program-level outcomes, supported by case examples from regional best practices.
The workshop, which runs until December 5, is expected to accomplish key targets including the harmonization of program learning outcomes with institutional goals, national standards, and ASEAN benchmarks. Faculty participants are tasked to produce revised curriculum matrices, alignment documents, and policy inputs that will strengthen IFSU’s quality assurance systems. By the end of the activity, outputs will serve as the foundation for continuous improvement, accreditation readiness, and the advancement of academic excellence across the university’s priority programs.
