I was a member of the Vineyard based writers Artists & Writers group Artistic License, when the Langley Vineyards asked them to produce a “newspaper.” As a result of his freelancing experience, I became the editor. The Vine Press was a 12 - 16 page quaterly that covered stories from five churches in the Lower Mainland. The first two editions carried poems and short stories. Seven editions were printed in 1992 and 93.
I started the Vineyard Galley after becoming one of Artistic License's group leaders in 1993. There was a new show every month and also set up group and single exhibitions at other venues through-out the Fraser Valley. If I remember correctly, I either set up, arranged or was a participant in 45 shows the first year. This was not my day job (I am a painting contractor) and I quit in1996.
We received a lot of media attention. The article below is my favourite profile.
