Thomas s/o Lorance Fairclough Baptism: 15 Sep 1667 St Thomas the Martyr, Upholland. He was born on 10 Sep 1667 in the village of Orrall.
He was only 17 when he married Ruth Waring in Wigan, on May 4, 1684. If the christening date below is correct, she was five months pregnant.
Subsequent records show that Thomas Fairclough and his son Thomas Jr were both weavers.
Both of their names appear in the list of Upholland residents pledging their allegiance to William of Orange in 1696 (pp 89-90 of attached). This Lancaster Oath was deemed necessary after a serious plot to restore the exiled Stuarts was discovered in Las=ncaster the year before.
