Jacob was most likely a son of James or Lewis Doyle, who is listed at St Peter's, Roscommon in the Elphin census of 1749. Given the similarity of their names, I suspect his father was James.
Jacob Doyle & Eliza Smiley appear in the parish register of St Peters Athone, in Roscommon, with the baptism of their son Edward in 1792.
Children:
- (Proposed) Roger Doyle & Catherine Cunnif married about 1805, so Roger was probably born about 1780. Baptisms:
- Feb 3, 1806 - Joannis s/o Rogeri Doyle & Caterina Cunnif. Spons Jonannis Doyan (Doyle?) & Sarah Dolan (Doyle?) - Monksland
- 1810 - Paton s/o Rogeria Doyle & Catharina Cunniff; spons Johannis Doyle & Alicia Connif
- Roger sponsored Matt Doyle & Catherine Bouret’s baptisms Jaco (1819) Elizabeth (1822)
- (Proposed) Bridget Doyle - who baptized her daughter Miriam Geraghty in 1810. Jacob & Eliza were the sponsors of that ceremony. Bridget was herself most likely born prior to start of the parish register - possibly 1785?- biography follows
- Proposed) Joan Doyle - who sponsored the baptism's of (her sister?) Bridget Doyle' s daughters Marg Geraghty, on Oct 16, 1813 and Ann Geraghty, during April 1818. So I suspect Joan was born about 1787
- (Proposed) Matthew Doyle married Catherine Bouret (Barrett?) about 1818, so was most likely born close to 1789. He gave two of his three known children the names of his suspected parents:
- July 5, 1819 - Jaco s/o Matt Doyle & Catherine Bouret (Barrett?) - Cronagh
- 1822 - Elizabeth d/o Matt Doyle & Catherine Bouret (Barrett) - Cronagh
- July 24, 1825 - Rogerum s/o Mathai Doyla & Catharia Barrett
- Sept 3 1792 - Edward s/o Jacob Doyle & Elizabeth Smiley baptised at St Peters Athone, in Roscommon. Sponsors Michael Galvin & Mag Gallagher
