There are two Doyles listed in the 1749 census for St Peter's, Athlone, in the Diocese of Elphin: James and Lewis.
Given the similarity of their names, I suspect James may be the father of Jacob Doyle, who appears in St Peter's, Athlone parish register after records were started in 1789.
