One has to come to the end of one's forces,
learn that one is a slave - in whatever realm -
in order to desire emancipation.
Henry Miller, The time of the assassins: a study of Rimbaud
Finally, after years, a break of reflection allows turning attention to the past, to ascertain the crossed road, mentally reliving the itinerary, the salient phases, the crossed obstacles.
The oscillation of the idea that the most expensive texts are susceptible of revision without end and the wish to maintain their evocative power leaving them in their original state is overcome.
A society that confers maturity status to what overcomes the evaluation of the public, or of the erudite criticism, imposes to the reflection to cross the limits of a private or academic popularization.
The greater part of the works have sprung from circumstances that they didn't foresee a publishing frame, proper to a public of strangers, and so it has remained in its peculiar form, the change also hampered by the desire to avoid the hybridization of forms and contents with following interventions, dictated by the natural evolution of thought.
The distribution of the works through LULU - a channel that leaves control of their own contents to the authors - has been preceded by a diffusion that happened in two phases: the first one, lasted some years, finished through the distribution ad personam to known people who, through dialogue and criticisms, have stimulated retroactions and calibrations; the second through their fruition, on demand, through web sites.
Comments
"In Oreste Debernardi's books art and science are conjugated, and from their juxtaposition something springs that faces us close to ourselves."
Contents
The socratic and therefore not systematic approach to thought has influenced the author to express his intuitions above all through the use of oral speeches, reducing the demonstration of a Debernardi-thought through written testimonies. However, lines of resistance are underlined in the twenty-years reflection and they allow underlining some systematic lines naturally emerging in the texts, but they don't coincide, as the author says, with a faber perennis on which he recognizes himself.
In the pages real feelings are transfigured: the scanning of the sentences points out the road to reach the heart. To go close to the passion, it is necessary to feel, more than to limit himself to read.
It doesn't seem unreasonable that the texts have been used as a tool of self-investigation from one who has gotten used to the psychoanalytic routine.
Notes on Aesthetics
The idea of publishing with consideration for the aesthetic impact of books arose when a reader mistook the book catalog for an art collection. It was not an improvised endeavor, starting from the premise that the meeting of quality paper, precise printing, and care in writing makes the overall result valuable. It is a meeting with unpredictable outcomes, where different talents converge and harmonize.
Every page, whether winding or linear, is filled with passages that carry us into torrents of meaning, from which different atmospheres emanate and skies that illuminate new horizons.
The insights, initially noted to preserve and disseminate original thoughts, have become, when turned into a book, something that requires an additional level of understanding, aided by the aesthetic engagement in the face of the text's epiphany.
Except for a few initial images, the texts are devoid of them and do not feature polychromy, but rather simple typography to allow the typographer's work to make room for the thoughts of the writer.
Like Aldo Manuzio, we believe that simplicity is the hallmark of a great printer, a perfect bridge between the reader and the author. It has been centuries since the eye found its reading style, a kind of landscape that, in its essential features, dates back to the sixteenth century. Manuzio, more of a humanist than a simple printer, solved the problem of print quality after the invention of movable type with exemplary clarity. This model is the inspiration for the present typographic approach.
Notes on Collections
The division into collections suggests the thematic areas covered by the existential journey. It is based on content criteria as well as chronological ones and reflects the division of works that occurred during their initial presentation on the web. Book trailers.

Notes on Reading
Reading is an entirely personal experience, but some elements can be considered common. The mind is activated without us realizing it, and we experience an intimate pleasure in viewing things from the inside through identification with the characters, observing the situation from their perspective. Empathy makes this identification possible, ultimately blurring the distinction between the one who engages in the act of identification and the one who carries out the real act. In fact, reading, besides being a relaxing experience, stimulates the ability to connect with others, enhances the ability to understand social situations through new learned interpretative patterns, and facilitates socialization. It improves writing skills, communication abilities, and makes individuals more inclined towards social engagement. It also increases involvement in civil and cultural education. Readers are much more likely to vote and participate in cultural events.
Reading involves concentration, requiring a contemplative effort that helps achieve a deeper understanding of ourselves and others. It enhances memory, attention, and concentration itself, as it intensely activates brain activity involving various cortical areas. Reading is one of the most effective exercises for the mind, and when done regularly, it enhances learning ability and other skills. Notably, children who are read to or who read books develop various skills, not only cognitive but also emotional and relational. Reading is irreplaceable for the transmission of knowledge, but above all, for the understanding of being and feeling. The mind frees itself from self-related constraints if the reader opens up to catharsis on different levels.
On a relational level, the reading experience allows individuals to resonate with the interpretations and models that come to life between the pages, establishing an intense and enjoyable communicative connection with authors, characterized by emotion, complicity, and trust. Reading allows for the exploration of intimate emotions in a reassuring context that brings forth emotional interpretative hypotheses.
On a cognitive level, reading provides an alternative channel of knowledge, supporting direct experience. It fosters self-understanding and an understanding of the world around us, broadening the mind for discovery and exploration. It develops imagination, creativity, curiosity, and logical-abstract thinking skills. Linguistically, reading stimulates language development, enriches vocabulary, and improves lexical quality. Socially, those accustomed to reading tend to have better academic performance, an easier time socializing, and improved problem-solving abilities. Culturally, knowledge transmission through reading is one of the most important means of passing on values, ethical messages, and traditions from one generation to another.
Activities that keep the brain active, such as reading, delay memory decline. A decrease in reading has noticeable effects on the logical and formal structure of thought and the forms used to express it.
In addition to the usual positive effects, reading books within the autonarrative paradigm allows individuals to establish a connection with themselves. It is formative and even therapeutic, as it allows for realistic identifications with rigorously authentic content.
