Back in 2018 when I worked on the Stellar Evolution Observing Program, I viewed most of the targets with binoculars. Back then it didn't make a difference if you used a telescope or binoculars, although I don't think imaging was allowed.. In 2026, certifications were announced for other viewing methods, and now Binocular, Imaging, and Naked Eye have their own special certifications. Here is my submission for the Imaging Award.
A total of 100 objects must be observed to complete this Observing Program. A log sheet that meets the requirements of this Observing Program is located here. You may use this, or any suitable log that records the required information.
Your observing log sheet must include this information for each of the objects:
Object name
Date & Time (local or Universal Time)
Seeing and Transparency
Latitude and Longitude of Observing Site
Equipment used to make the observation – generic description is ok (Examples: 8” SCT, 4” refractor, 15” Reflector, etc.)
Magnification and Filters (if used)
