I have chosen to image the targets of the Active Galactic Nuclei with the remote telescope(s) of Slooh (www.slooh.com). All imaging targets were scheduled by my picking a specific time, scope and by selecting them from a catalog (NGC & IC) or by entering the coordinates. This meets the AL’s definition of an acceptable remote telescope.
Observers are required to observe or image a total of any 30 quasars, Seyfert galaxies, or BLOs for the Active Galactic Nuclei Observing Program certification. In order to fully appreciate the various types of AGNs there should be least 5 Quasars, 5 Seyfert galaxies and 2 BL Lacertae Objects from these lists. If so inclined, the observer or imager may opt to include one or more of the optional challenge objects in the Gravitationally-Lensed Quasar list or from the True Double Quasar list.
Observations will be telescopic and can be recorded either by visual description and sketch (V) or by imaging (I).
The AGNs can be located manually, with digital setting circles or go-to telescopes.
Visual observations, (13-15” as a minimum) log sheets should contain:
Latitude and Longitude of observation.
Sky conditions: transparency and seeing.
Telescope aperture and focal length.
Whether the object was found manually, with digital setting circles or a go-to telescope.
Magnification
The reference number of the quasar, BLO or Seyfert galaxy observed.
Constellation the object is within
A small sketch indicating the position of the object in reference to the foreground stars.
Indicate direction of North and West
Indicate size of field
The distance of the object using the redshift z value provided.
Photographic or digital imaging observations, (at least a 4” telescope is suggested) the image:
All of the requirements for visual observers.
The object must be indicated on the image with an arrow or line.

Annotating Image:
In order to locate and mark the target in the images I first loaded the luminance fits frame into AstroImageJ for a plate solve using a local install of Astrometry.net (ANSVR). After a successful plate solve I saved the image with the updated coordinates for the center of the image. I then opened the fits image in Aladin, turned on the grid, and moved the cursor to the coordinates given in the program's spreadsheet. Aladin verified the object by checking with Strasbourg. I used Aladin to draw the N/E directions (lower right corner of the images) and the line marking the object.
