Welcome back! My plan for this unit is to guide you to:
Brainstorm and explore a topic or idea that interests you.
Listen to a podcast and analyze the organization and structure of the discussion.
Research a topic or idea that interests you.
Evaluate sources of information for accuracy, relevance, credibility and bias.
Generate questions before, during and after research.
Cite your sources of information, including title, author, date of publication, and URL.
Cite sources of information using MLA or APA guidelines.
Generate a bibliography using an online citation management website.
Write a one-sentence thesis statement that is focused, specific and provides an overview of the main points you will cover in your presentation.
Write an outline for a podcast proposal that states the key points and lists supporting details that will be used to explain each key point.
Write a 300-500 word proposal for a talk presenting an original idea.
Write a proposal that includes a:
lead
thesis or central question
clear strategic structure
relevant information and examples.
Write a four paragraph proposal using appropriate capitalization, punctuation, grammar and spelling.
Revise and edit your proposal for your podcast:
clarify vague or confusing language
correct errors in capitalization, punctuation, spelling and grammar.
Record and edit your podcast using appropriate equipment and techniques.
Brainstorm (journal writing) and idea/topic that interests you
