Agriculture and Natural Resources
Purdue Extension-Wabash County
Greetings,
I hope everyone had a safe and fun-filled October! Farmers worked hard to bring in the harvest, while youth and their families enjoyed fall break and seasonal festivities.
We had a fantastic month in Extension, thanks to our wonderful community partners. Highlights included fall fun at the local library, guest speakers with local clubs, and the opportunity to host a booth at the Indiana Native Plant Society’s annual conference in Fort Wayne. The event featured excellent speakers and great interactions.
Hopefully, I had a chance to connect with you at one of the five booths I hosted throughout the month—whether at a talk, a First Friday event, or a workshop. I’ve come to realize that October is, without a doubt, outreach month!
Moving into November we are working to clean up local raised beds and winterize projects so as to get a fresh start in the spring. I am looking forward to our Rooted and Resilient Homesteading Conference in Noble County. I will also be traveling around the state to help with different workshops and events.
Feel free to reach out if you'd like to have a meeting. However, November is a busy month so call or email before heading into the office. If you have any questions about upcoming programming or Ag questions in general, please reach out to the Extension Office. Phone: 260-563-0661 (Ext 1408) or emailing me directly at gschortg@purdue.edu
Best Wishes,

Leadership Development Series
I was fortunate to get a scholarship to attend the Wabash Leadership Conference hosted by Grow Wabash County. In our first class we did introductions, worked on character awareness, toured Josiah White's campus and went over the series as a whole. This course is every third Thursday of the month and will cover many great topics to help develop leadership skills and work in the community. After the first class I am excited to see what future classes hold.
