Global Panic

General release of information about the Nahha and their presence on this planet, is not desired within the agency or in fact by the Nahha. At some stage their presence will become known but the longer this can be put off the better.

If the presence of the Nahha were made public we could expect the usual religious and cultist paranoia and extreme over-reaction to the perceived threat. We would also expect that all non-rational organizations (particularly the organized religions) to feed off each other's emotional responses. Conspiracy theories of all types will rise and the nature of our contact called into question at all levels. There will undoubtedly be manufactured rumours and events designed to inflame the situation and this will not be helped by the exclusive secular nature of the Nahha who could be seen as 'agents of the devil' by significant parts of Earth's population (notably the fundamentalist Jews, Christians and Muslims). For instance: -

• Born again Christians can be expected to relate this to (yet another) time of 'The Rapture'

• Some extremist Jews may see this as the coming of their Saviour, whereas others will not - provoking civil unrest.

While at the same time, very similar cults will use the exact same 'evidence' to show that this is a manifestation of the devil (or equivalent). Thus we can see the whole world being turned into a 'Holy Land' scenario where violence and assassinations become the norm as religious cult turns against religious cult. As usual, bystanders will be caught up in this process and the authorities (secular or otherwise) will have their hands full.

Governments, particularly the unstable ones, will also react in a similar fashion. They would attempt to exploit people's paranoia for their own purposes but the result would be an escalation of the number of regional conflicts.

All political systems that rely on faith and/or force-of-arms for legitimacy can be expected to over-react in some way. This can be expected to alarm the Nahha even more, and if this happens they would be encouraged to explore more ways to defend themselves from us. These ways would not be restricted by considerations for our welfare - to them we already sub-human [samam] simply because of the nature of our society. We could expect them to explore a biological response, and bearing in mind they are far advanced bio-sciences the result could be selective and very catastrophic for our society.

Secrecy of their presence is therefore paramount.
