Canva

What is Canva?

Canva is a service that allows teachers to design colorful, eye-catching posters for the classroom. Teachers can add text, pictures, and fun emojis to help them connect to their students. Canva can also be used to design worksheets to print, interactive worksheets on the whiteboard, and even interactive presentations for classroom meetings or circle time!

How does this fit into the Danielson Framework?

Canva can fit into many of the aspects of the Danielson Framework. For example, a poster would tie directly into framework 2b (establishing a culture for learning). The poster could give classroom rules, provide a help sheet, or be a fun way to display new information. The poster could also help with aspect 2e (organizing physical space) by providing a diagram of how toys fit into a box, or perhaps labeling where different things go.

How do I use Canva in my classroom?

Canva is currently my favorite tool to use to make my own materials. I can use Canva to make adaptive materials that my students can touch or manipulate on the Smartboard. My morning meeting is a prime example of an interactive presentation using Canva (see above). In the future, I plan to use Canva posters in my classroom to help me engage my students during lessons. I will also use Canva posters to help with classroom management, as I can easily post the classroom expectations on the wall with a fun poster. Canva is also a great tool to use to make worksheets from scratch. Many worksheets that I used during my student teaching placement were made on Canva.
