Or, Too Much Time On My Hands
As I mentioned, I used the same mold as I did for the Orange Pods, but I cut the pieces from the molds into lengths. I used a combination of green glazes to provide the color on this piece. There are holes in the bottom of the pieces so they could be fastened to a wall and displayed coming from the wall. I think this would be spectacular, but haven't pushed the issue at home YET, so it's on the floor. When I first made the piece, I lined the pieces up in rows by size. Arranged like that, it makes me think of chanting monks, or the Sidney opera house. Arranged in a spiral, it evokes a dragon. Currently I have it arranged, with the pieces in tapering order, half upright and the other half next to them and lying down, and it makes me think about a leaf.
