I think that this final exam was the turning point in Bruce’s finals, when he decided to make it hard for me to “screw it up”. I have to admit that I did a bit of setting the stage for this final exam. Part way through the semester, I brought Bruce a handful of tiny sea creatures called nudibranchs. Simply, nudibranchs are colorful snails without shells. I told him that I had finished my final early. He gave me an emphatic NO; just the reaction I wanted. This two-piece cave salamander is decorated with low fire glazes done in the high fire. It became my final exam solution. It clearly does not come from the ocean, but, as I told Bruce, when he told me no to the little nudibranchs, I assumed that he didn’t mean SEA, but rather, the letter, C. A salamander is a member of the family Caudata, which begins with a C, and the tail on this salamander is C-shaped.
