I know that this sounds terrible, but I use this name because this fish has no true parentage. The front of the fish was taken from a photograph of an artist’s idea of a particular fossil deep-sea fish, and the back from a photo of a living deep-sea fish. The fossil fish was red in the photo, but no one really knows what color the fish was, and I think that the artist made it red because a lot of deep-sea fish are red. In the deep sea, red doesn’t appear anyway because there is practically no light, and red is the first color to disappear as we go deeper. My fish is blue because I liked that glaze combination.
