My sister Amy brought me with her on a business trip to Austria, where I saw a famous sculpture in a museum. The sculpture was a man’s face in a two dimensional profile on top of his shoulders in a two dimensional profile placed at 90° to the head. I liked the idea, and modified it by making the parts a bit more three dimensional, but retaining the two dimensional character. The head is from a mold I made of half of Michael’s face and head, and the body is from two slabs I made by tracing around Michael’s shoulders. I gave this piece to Michael to commemorate his high school graduation.
