“What’s your favorite color?” I ask, my knees pressed against my chest. Archer sits across from me on the other side of the fire. He looks up at the darkened sky and a rare soft smile breaks on his face. “My favorite color?”
“Yes, Archer. Your favorite color.”
Silence stretches between us before he looks down at his hands, playing with his fingers. “It might seem weird, but it’s lilac.”
I’m taken aback by his answer. Lilac? Like light purple?
“Don’t get quiet on me now, Raven.” He teases. A laugh escapes me.
“I’m not, it’s just…different.”
“Different. Weird. Same thing.” His light grey eyes meet my light brown ones. “What’s yours?”
“My…what?”
“Your favorite color stupid. Stay on theme.”
Nodding, I laugh. “I don’t think I have one.”
“Everyone has one.” His calm voice makes my smile widen.
“Well then, I guess it would be navy blue?” I try, subconsciously running my hands through my hair.
“Why? Because of your hair?” Archer questions, tilting his head to the side.
“No,” I counter. “Well, possibly. But I think the color is fierce—brave. It’s been a comfort color for a while, I guess.”
