The baker works hard through all days and nights,
Making pastries and other cooked delights.
Watching smiles grow on the children's faces,
As they stare at the cakes in glass cases.
Sending them off with beautiful desserts,
Some of them sweet, while some of them curt,
Was the most rewarding prize one could want,
Handing someone a decadent croissant.
But while this life was greatly fulfilling,
There was one thing most certainly missing.
The builder works hard through all days and nights,
Laying down the bricks on his building sites.
Using tools to set a new foundation,
That will last a familyβs carnation.
Sending them off with a beautiful house,
That would last centuries for man and spouse,
Was the most rewarding prize one could need,
Building someone a place to plant their seed.
But while this life was greatly fulfilling,
There was one thing most certainly missing.
The tailor works hard through all days and nights,
Altering dresses that pair well with tights.
Pinning fabric into something brand new,
Fixing up beautiful silhouettes too.
Sending them off with beautiful clothing,
To their liking instead of their loathing,
Was the most rewarding prize one could ask,
Sewing someone a dress complete with mask.
But while this life was greatly fulfilling,
There was one thing most certainly missing.
The baker never ate his own desserts.
The builder never crafted his own home.
The tailor never altered his own suit.
The river will soon run out of water,
The lion will soon run out of food,
The bird will soon run out of song,
Until there is nothing left,
But a small reminder,
Of why this happened,
That time ran out,
It left us,
Always,
Gone.
The baker will always have one regret.
The builder will always have one regret.
The tailor will always have one regret.
We must seize life while we are still able,
Take it in our hands before it runs out,
Donβt treat Life like itβs some simple fable,
See it for what it is truly about.
The baker gets to eat his own desserts.
The builder gets to make his own house.
The tailor gets to alter his own suit.
They will take back what they gave to us all,
Reclaiming the years of life that were lost.
Expect it, because by the final call,
Bridges will be built over all the frost.
