The man from Moe likes his flying fast and furious. Here being congratulated by Reeve, Johno is all smiles after winning the Doug Grinham Trophy in this years contest in a close fought battle with Derek. For some time now it has been difficult to attract more than a few Aussie designed Vintage models and pilots to compete. Consequently all comers were welcomed.
CYCLONE - Dave Lacey
Being a biplane with an appropriate age engine this model is hard to top in the static score. Unfortunately the Frog let him down badly this year
ALL AUSSIE PROTOTYPE II
Derek Pickard
After adjusting his handle for the second flight Derek made a great improvement and must have felt, with good reason, he was within a shot of the trophy. Seems Mr Goodge had other ideas.
SUKHOI Profile - John Lamont
Although not a vintage model John put up a credible flight performance to come third. If it wasn't for the static score then things might have been different.
DEMON - Reeve Marsh
A great little All Aussie Vintage design was not able to strut her stuff today being let down by the Enya up front. Disappointing for Reeve
Here Graham Keene tinkers with his Ringmaster with an LA .40 upfront. Almost identical in the background is John Goodge's except for the K&B .40 up front. The workmanship and finish that went into the models was first class. Graham did not enter the competition and was happy to pit for Johno. As it turned out having a backup model on hand proved a blessing. The K&B up front tearing the Ringmaster around at a great rate of knots proved a little too furious for Johno who lost it coming out of the Outside loops. Not to worry there was RM number 2 to get on with. Tuning the LA .40 down a little Mr Goodge got on with job and posted the best flight score of the day. Well done boys!
