This year we decided to give our usual catering team a rest and arranged for a catered sit-down lunch to be provided by Michelle from Home Grown Catering in Eltham.
The following pictures convey the enjoyment everyone had at the lunch.
Special thanks to these sponsors of this festive occasion: -
During the lunch President Steve presented various members with achievement and/or contribution awards for their efforts during the year.
First up was P. J. Rowland receiving the Top Gun Award for 2015 for his achievement in winning every major contest at the Club for the year.
Next was Peter Koch for his various contributions of the year.
Firstly a shirt "Seriously do I look Like I Care"
... next a soaker hose and a new nozzle and some lawn seed...
... also some special relaxation beverage for when all the jobs are done.
To Gavin for his help as Pete's mowing assistant
Les received two awards. Firstly our "Man Sunday" award for his cleaning, cooking, and photo journalism activities. Secondly he received a special "Lord of the Rings" award for the most determined effort two years running on the Ringmaster Flyathon days
For our Secretary/Treasurer we needed to do something special. We needed to create a new entity called KMAC Travel to present the "Where the Bloody Hell Are You!" award. Bruce has a tendency to go away on a trip when there is something requiring attention, so we figure if he is not going to give us our due we might as well support him. (Travel Agents make a good living after all). However because we would much rather have his company at the club, Bruce and Pat also received two doses of Ant Rid to curtail those ants in their pants that make them move around so much.
Both Peter Rowland and Peter Roberts were recognised for their support in judging our major competitions throughout the year. Here Peter Rowland Snr is receiving his award.
There are a number of club members who travel long distances and are often the first to offer assistance when required. These people include Darryl Smails, Peter Byrne, Dave and Vera Lacy, Doug and Sylvia. Here receiving his Travelling Helpers award is Darryl.
Also Receiving an Award was Bernie for his assistance with general duties and scoresheet running.
The Lucky winner of this Christmas Hamper Door Prize was Sylvia Hayes. Sylvia was delighted and heard to say "I have never one anything in my life before". Hmmn, I wonder what Dougie would have to say about that!
In recognition of President Steve's contribution throughout the year, Pete presented him with a Junior Flitestreak kit and engine but that is not all a great looking painting that he had gone to great lengths to source. Of course it wouldn't be Kochie if there wasn't a story to go with it.
Now some of us know the truth about its derivation but for those who believe every word Kochie says, if it is a Pro Heart or relative there of, it must have been Millenniums ago when the sea was lapping the shores of Broken Hill.
After lunch was finished Steve organised a 'Team Building Exercise' that involved (to cut a long story short!) five teams competing to build the tallest free-standing tower from a collection of materials including thin and thick bamboo skewers, string, foam blocks and a packet of thin spaghetti. After Half an hours effort there was one clear winner on table 2. Admittedly there were taller towers constructed but they each failed the free-standing test in the blustery wind that had sprung up.
Thanks also to Michelle from Home Grown Catering who supplied, delivered, laid out and cleared away the great lunch.
