Well the weather may have been a little foreboding, but true to Melbourne we had a little bit of all seasons over the two days of competition. Whilst there were only a small number of entries in each of the disciplines the standard of flying was excellent. We are grateful to all the interstate competitors for making the trek.

F2B
In F2B it was a good tussle between Reg and PJ. There was some very consistent scores across the rounds particularly amongst the top 4. Mark Gordon although well down in the scores acquitted himself well for someone who is just coming to grips with the pattern. Alan struggled, missing points with late starts forcing him to go over time resulting in further penalties.
CLASSIC
Well the field looked set for Reg and his infamous TBird to prevail once again. But a late entry from PJ and a strong showing by Tony with his beautiful Caprice and Frank with his Bearcat put the pressure on. Dave put up a strong show but was unable to match them with his Shark. Mark's All Australian Mark 1 showed its age against better pedigree ships. Unfortunately there were two casualties in the Classic being Doug Grinham's Nobler succumbing to too many circuits over the last 12 years and Dave Lacy's Phonecian.
PJ flew the same model he used in F2B with great success so it was no surprise in the end that he took out this event as well.
VINTAGE
It was always going to be a battle in the air with the two Daves just about matching it on the static score and recent flying form of Pete with his Larikan. Giving away 20 points before you get into the air was always going to be a challenge for Pete, but one he seems to relish. In the end the Guided Whistle's extra static points and great flying by David carried the day with a great battle between Dave Lacy and Alan for 3rd. The speed of the little Ambassador in Ken's hands was very entertaining but made it difficult to complete manoeuvres with consistent shape or form.
