School Skills for Preschoolers: Learning Beyond Storytime
Presented by Sarah Showe, Frederick County Public Libraries
Want to expand on the incredible work you do in storytime preparing children for school? Sign up and learn all about School Skills for Preschoolers, a hands-on, 30 minute program designed to introduce children to a variety of important skills needed for academic success. We'll discuss why school readiness programs are important, learn how to organize and facilitate a school skills program, and discover toys, games, and activities you can include at programs in your library, no matter your budget. The second half of this session will be devoted to hands-on playtime for attendees!
At the conclusion of the program, participants will be able to:
Identify three reasons school readiness programs are important to offer in public libraries.
Successfully plan a School Skills for Preschoolers program at their own library.
Identify a variety of activities to offer in a School Skills for Preschoolers program.
