Purdue Extension-Wabash County
Greetings All,
June has come and gone, and now we're looking ahead to Independence Day and the Wabash County 4-H Fair! The corn crops are looking strong—most fields will be "knee-high by the 4th of July." We wrapped up the month with hot, muggy weather, but thankfully, regular rain has helped prevent drought stress in our gardens and potted plants.
Sarah Anguilm (NEPA for Wabash, Huntington, and Fulton Counties) and I kicked off the Junior Master Gardener program at the local YMCA with 37 enthusiastic students! We're covering topics like how plants grow, how to plant a garden, basic nutrition, and insect science. We held the first three sessions in June, and we’ll continue with three more in July. It's a fantastic summer program full of hands-on activities and fun projects!
June was also the month of 'Raised Beds' in Wabash County. Our office helped to install 7 new beds at the local YMCA, 17 at the Wabash Carnegie Library, and 12 at Bowen Health Center. I am grateful for all the hard work Wabash has put into these beds and the volunteers and workers who keep them watered and weeded.
Make sure to take some time and visit us at the Wabash County Fair from July 12-18th.

Feel free to reach out if you'd like to have a meeting. However, July is a busy time so call or email before heading into the office. If you have any questions about upcoming programming or Ag questions in general, please reach out to the Extension Office.
