John 1:1-4
Jesus Was With God in the Beginning
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning.
3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of men.
John 21:24-25 (KJV)
Writings About Jesus
24 This is the disciple which testifieth of these things, and wrote these things: and we know that his testimony is true.
25 And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.
Revelation 20:15
The Book of Life
15 If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
John 3:16:17
The Story of Love
16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him."
1 John 4:8
God is Love
8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
Hebrews 12:2
Jesus is Our Author and Finisher of Our Faith
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Think of how the lives of Jesus' Disciples were, especially after they met Him...How their lives must have changed...Our lives can change when we, too, follow Him...I have always felt the our lives are like a story, and our lives tell a story...And I believe there is an Author and a Story-Teller...I also believe in the Great Book of Life, as St. John writes about in Revelations...
G. K. Chesterton put it this way: ” I had always vaguely felt facts to be miracles in the sense that they are wonderful: now I began to think them as miracles in the stricter sense that they were willful...I mean that they were, or might be, repeated exercises of some will...In short, I had always believed that the world involved magic: now I thought that perhaps it involved a Magician...And this pointed to a profound emotion always present and sub-conscious; that this world of ours has some purpose; and if there is a purpose, there is a person...I had always felt life first as a story: and if there is a story, there is a Story-Teller.”...
I agree with Chesterton...Our lives play out as stories...There is this Great Story-Teller...The Great Author has a Son...His Son had a career as a Minister...His ministry lasted only three short years...But during these three short years many great and mighty things were done, mighty words were spoken, unusual parables were told, mighty miracles happened, unusual signs were all around Him -and these things were heard and seen by the common man, of His time...Nothing and No One has ever been like this Man, if it is fair to call Him a Man, before or after Him...Books about Him, articles about Him, words in daily lives, and words in churches are spoken in His name -since He died and resurrected...St. John was right, in saying, that if everything was recorded about Him from His birth to today, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written...
Without Jesus the story of life is insufficient...The story is incomplete...Jesus finishes the story of our lives, and the author of Hebrews tells us that very fact...Without Him, our life and our story would make no sense...There would be something dramatically missing...It would be like a novel with several important chapters literally torn out...
Our lives are written by an Author, who is Love...The story then is naturally a Love Story of life...But we must have faith to see and feel this Love Story...God and His Son are about love, faith, and hope...Jesus was with the Creator and Author of Life in the beginning...Two thousand years ago He ministered to mankind for only three years, yet even today He remains the Author and Finisher of our faith...
