John 20:15
Jesus is Near
15"Woman," he said, "why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?"
Thinking he was the gardener, she said, "Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him."
Genesis 28:15-16
God is Near
15 “I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.”16 When Jacob awoke from his sleep, he thought, “Surely the LORD is in this place, and I was not aware of it.”
Luke 24:13-16
On the Road to Emmaus
13Now that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem. 14They were talking with each other about everything that had happened. 15As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them; 16but they were kept from recognizing him.
John 17:24-26
Jesus Prays for Believers
24 “Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.
25 “Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. 26 I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.”
John 16:5-7
The Work of the Holy Spirit
5 “Now I am going to him who sent me, yet none of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’ 6 Because I have said these things, you are filled with grief. 7 But I tell you the truth: It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.
John 16:12-13
The Spirit of Truth
12 “I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. 13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth.
God gently tugs on our hearts, and pushes at our minds...Are we listening for Him?...
When Jesus prayed for His believers the night before His arrest, we are told that His Father Loved Him before the world even began...The world finds it hard to recognize God, but Jesus aids and assists in helping us to know, who His Father is...Jesus will continue to help the world in making His Father known to the world...God's Love for Him, will also be given to all the believers of this world...And not only may God show His Love in this way -Jesus (after He left the earth and ascended to heaven) will be in believers by the Holy Spirit that He sends to this world...
Jacob, when He was in in Bethel, says surely the LORD is in this place, and I was just not aware of it...Sometimes the LORD, His Son, and the Holy Spirit are near us and we just do not recognize it...We too, are not aware of it...Maybe we are not quite doing His will, or He thinks the timing is not right, but something still tugs at us (and it may be His righteousness) and we let it pass by without thinking or in giving it much thought...But the Holy Spirit and God's Presence seem easily to be overlooked...And unlike Jacob we continue down the road and can miss these mystic and spiritual times of our lives...These times can be so soft, gentile on the mind, and subtle -that they go right by without us giving that tug from the Holy Spirit, a second thought...It also seems when God is around our senses become a little more deficient, as we try more to stay focused on our current world and our current task at hand...The more focused we are on Jesus, the better we become at listening for these tugs...
These tugs are little pushes and pulls at our soul from the Counselor that Jesus sent...The Work of the Holy Spirit is to get us closer to God...The Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth is trying to guide us in the path of life...It is trying to lead us to the Truth, to God...Let us pray that we listen better for these small tugs of the heart...
