Matthew 24:35
Jesus Words Will Never Pass
35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
John 8:1-11
Jesus Saves an Adulteress from the Pharisees
1 but Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.
2 At dawn he appeared again in the temple courts, where all the people gathered around him, and he sat down to teach them. 3 The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group 4 and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. 5 In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?” 6 They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him.
But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger.7 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” 8 Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.
9 At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there.10 Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”
11 “No one, sir,” she said.
“Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”
John 20:24-29
Blessed Are Those Who Believe But Have Not Seen Him
24 Now Thomas (also known as Didymus), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. 25 So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!”
But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”
26 A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!”
27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”
28 Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!”
29 Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
Jesus is Almighty and Powerful even though we do not see Him...It would be much easier to believe in Him if we could see Him, once or on occasion...Yet, those who believe in Him and have faith in Him, believe in His Mysterious Power and that He does exist...
Just like Jesus is a mystery to us, what He wrote on the ground when the young girl was caught in adultery is another mystery to us...What He wrote was powerful...So powerful that the Pharisees ready to stone the young woman were overcome, and had a mind change about stoning the girl to death...And even though we do not know what He wrote and did not see the words that He wrote, yet we know the words (He wrote on the ground) remain forever powerful...
Thomas said, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.”...As Jesus reminded Thomas that he believed because He got to see and touch His Master and His wounds...But Jesus says blessed are those who believe in Him and have not seen Him...
