John 20:28
My LORD and My GOD
28 Thomas said to him, "My Lord and my God!"
John 11:25-26
Jesus is the Resurrection and the Life
25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
These are five of the most beautiful words about Jesus in the Bible...My LORD and my God...And there are many words and verses about Jesus in the New Testament...Thomas knew Jesus as his Teacher and Friend, when He was living...Now Thomas met Jesus after His death, and would get to talk to Him some more and learn more about Him...And Thomas doubted that Jesus had came back from the dead...
When I first read the Bible I had thought about what others had told me, and what C. S. Lewis had written about Jesus…They said that Jesus was not only the Son of God, but was God in the flesh…I did not see that Jesus was God in the flesh the first few times I read the Bible…I did think that He is our Messiah, but to say that He was indeed God, I just did not see that…I must have missed many things throughout the gospels that I should have seen in my first readings…It should have been apparent that He was not only different (extremely different), but divinely different with all His miracles that He had done…But sometimes I think, one can over look all His miracles, and say Jesus was just a Good Doctor and healed many, and some of these healings were a matter of mind over matter…But He did other miracles, like turning water into wine, and walking on water, and feeding four thousand and five thousand with just the smallest amounts of food…I thought at first reading that maybe the original authors embellished their Great Teacher…But there was something I could not get out of my mind from even my very first reading…It is some of the things He said…To tell people that He fulfilled the Law of Moses is extraordinary…To tell us before Abraham was I AM…And since I AM is the name for God, what is He saying and trying to tell us…He also gives us several I AM statements like I AM the bread of life, and I AM the light of this world, and I AM the truth, the way, and the life…To tell the Pharisees His disciples did not have to fast until He left this world, is again extraordinary…What a statement to make to those who know you and trust you...Who is He, by saying these things?...How bold are these statements that He said to His Disciples and others?...Other things like forgiving others, like Him helping the woman who has sinned and says He won’t condemn her, since the others had left (and had brought her to Him for judgment)…Then telling now go and sin no more…
To forgive others of their sins that they have committed against others really puts Him over the top, when I think about it…How can He forgive others of someone who has sinned against me, when He had never even met me?…This can only be, if He is my True LORD and My True God...And since God made me in His image, I have really sinned against Him, and He has the perfect right to do this…He tells the Pharisees that He did not come for them, if they think they are righteous, because He came only for sinners…What a statement to make to the Pharisees…How sad for them, that they did not even know they were sinners…But the main reason I am now convinced that Jesus is my Savior and the One who was to come, and is to come, is His Sermon on the Mount…Not only in the Beatitudes and His statements on who are blessed, but His statements in the Sermon are above and beyond the Ten Commandments…He teaches us that there is a commandment that says “Do not murder”, but I tell you that anyone who has even been mad at His brother will be subject to the same judgment as murder…He teaches us that anyone who has looked at another woman lustfully, has committed adultery and broken one of our Ten Commandments…He teaches us in the Sermon on the Mount, if someone strikes us, to turn our cheek, and let that person strike us again on the other cheek…He teaches us to not only love our neighbors, but to love even our enemies…Who can do this?...The answer lies in St. Thomas’ heart when he finally saw Jesus after His resurrection…Thomas realizes that Jesus is Our LORD and our God...
Jesus said that I AM the the resurrection and the life...Those who believe in Him will live, even though they physically die; and if you believe in Him, you will never die...You will have eternal life...Do you believe this?...Thomas believed that Jesus is the resurrection and the life after seeing Him after His death...
I know now and see how Jesus is perfect of sin…I see how humble this Man was and is…I now agree with St. Thomas that Jesus is My LORD and is My GOD...Thomas would be the first one to call Jesus, God...Thomas said to Jesus, "My LORD and my God."...What else could Thomas say after seeing Him and touching Him after His death?...Do you believe this?...
