John 14:6-7
Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
John 19:28-30
Jesus Dies on the Cross and Gives Up His Spirit
28 Later, knowing that everything had now been finished, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I am thirsty.” 29 A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips. 30 When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
Suffering happens to everyone, at some point in one's life...Some suffering takes place earlier in one's life while one is younger...Some sufferers suffer in midlife...While for others suffering takes place at the end of one's life, as we have aged and start losing family and friends, and sometimes feel the age in our bodies and bones...It seems like suffering is something that we cannot avoid...
Even Job who who righteous and blameless suffered...And even the Son of God who is our Teacher and Master also suffered on the cross and died...The cross is the symbol and our Way to Teacher...He is our Way to God...The cross is the Way to our Heaven...Yet, the cross is a Symbol for Suffering...
To the cross we must go if we believe in Jesus...The cross made Way for the atonement of our sins...Jesus died on the cross and gave up His Spirit...This may mean there is no way around suffering in this world...There is no Way to God except through the suffering of the cross...
