Founders Day Reunion
April 25-26

The 2015 Augustana Founders Day Reunion will be at Augustana Lutheran Church and the Jenny Lind Chapel. This special event celebrates the 155th anniversary of the Augustana Synod and the 165th anniversary of the Andover congregation.

On Saturday, April 25, there will be interest groups pertaining to the Augustana Synod and stories about Swedish immigrants. The featured speaker at the noon lunch will be Orion Samuelson from WGN radio in Chicago. A smorgasbord dinner will be served in the evening, followed by a hymn sing and vespers.

On Sunday, April 26, Northern Illinois Synod Bishop Gary Wollersheim will preach at the morning worship service. Following a noon lunch, there will be guided tours of area historic sites and a concert by the Augustana College Choir from Rock Island. The festive afternoon service will include a message by ELCA Presiding Bishop Elizabeth A. Eaton. The Reunion will conclude with an evening dinner.

Birdies for Charity

The Jenny Lind Chapel is participating in the John Deere Classic Golf Tournament Birdies for Charity pledge program. This is a great way to provide funds for the Chapel ministry.

The official pledge card is available at the Chapel. In filling out the card, the charity name is "Jenny Lind Chapel" and the Bird Number is 1955. The address for sending in your pledge card is Birdies for Charity, 15623 Coaltown Rd, East Moline, IL 61244. All pledge cards must be received by July 10, 2015.

Swedish Högmässa Service

Sunday, September 27, 4:00 pm

At this service the sermon in English will be given by Rev. Gary Erickson, Director for Evangelical Mission and Assistant to Bishop Gary Wollersheim of the Northern Illinois Synod of the ELCA. The liturgy, spoken and sung in Swedish, will be led by John Norton, Trinity Lutheran, Moline. The organist will be Deanna Swanson, Augustana Lutheran, Andover. Special music will be provided by First Lutheran Church, Geneseo. Light refreshments will be served following the service.


Andover Christmas Walk

The walk is at several locations including the Jenny Lind Chapel.

45th Annual Joy of Christmas with Augustana College
Wednesday, December 9, 7:30 pmThis event starts at Augustana Lutheran Church in Andover and ends at the candle-lit Jenny Lind Chapel. Students and faculty from Augustana College join the community for this beautiful service of worship and music.

165th Annual Julotta - early Christmas morning service at Augustana Church

At this service the choir anthem is in Swedish and the sermon is in English.
