Filming at the Chapel
During January and February, a docudrama is being filmed at the Jenny Lind Chapel. The film, "Sons and Daughters of Thunder," takes place in 1834 in Cincinnati, Ohio, and depicts the first public discussions of the abolition of slavery in the United States. The shocking oratory sparked intense controversy and awakened a young Harriet Beecher Stowe to the horrors of slavery.
The scenes at the Chapel include a seminary convocation and three debates. Ms. Stowe, whose anti-slavery writing inflamed sectional tension before the Civil War, is the author of Uncle Tom's Cabin. Years later this novel was described by President Lincoln as the book that started the Civil War. There are approximately 40 cast and crew members. Watch the trailer.
