Make sure you meet with your IPENG and academic advisor to plan your remaining semesters, identifying any courses you must complete while abroad. Some students have full flexibility with their schedules.

GER 101 Beginning German I (or placement into a higher-level course)
Recommended
GER 205 Austria and Europe (Gen. Ed.: Humanities - Hist & Phil, Cultural Studies - Western)
All participants who have completed two years of college-level German or the equivalent are invited to enroll in our German in Austria Core Courses.
Additional Courses: Many relevant advanced courses (3-- and 4--) available.
Selected when the course catalogue is available for the specific institution.
Students are able to find Engineering courses, and courses offered in a variety of other subjects (business, technology, international relations, etc.).
Spring-semester participants also may receive 1-hour KIN credit for successful participation in the IiVP Ski Week.

Students must have all courses pre-approved for Illinois credit through the IPENG office.
The Illinois in Vienna Programs permits a course load of 34 credit hours/academic year (maximum of 18 credit hours/semester). Many participants complete 15 credit hours per semester. Participants must complete a minimum of 12 credit hours/semester to maintain full-time status.

Our IiVP partners offer a wide variety of relevant courses in English. Please note the TU recommends exchange students take no more than 2-3 technical courses in a semester. This is due to their specific teaching and academic styles.
Course catalogues are published in late June-July for the fall semester (Wintersemester=WS) and in December-January for the spring semester (Sommersemester=SS).
