ACTIVITIES + EXCURSIONS
Theater and Music
Participants attend plays at the famous Burgtheater, the Volkstheater, and at other renowned venues. The IiVP also procures tickets to classical and modern orchestral performances at the Musikverein and Konzerthaus, as well as for outstanding choral and vocal soloist performances throughout Vienna. You may wish to get into the spirit with a little Austrian music. Check out the Wiener Szene and Der Falter for more information on music and theater in Vienna.
Sports
Vienna is located at the edge of the Vienna Woods in the eastern foothills of the Alps. The location offers excellent opportunities to hike and bike in the beautiful countryside. Students may register for sports courses and activities at the Vienna University Sports Institute with numerous facilities all over the city. There also are many sports clubs offering a variety of organized athletic activities. In past years, IiVP students have, among other things, participated in 10-K runs and joined volleyball and soccer teams. A week-long ski excursion is one of the academic-year and spring-semester program highlights. For a glimpse of the IiVP Ski Week venue and more information, see the Berghotel Seidl-Alm.
Excursions
Students have the option to participate in a rich selection of excursions and other social activities, including several with Austrian students. At regular intervals, the IiVP arranges visits to Austria's historic and scenic sites, such as museums, monasteries, castles, vineyards, and some of its natural wonders. The annual Ski Week occurs prior to the spring semester and involves ski instruction, guided and independent skiing, as well as après ski activities.
