SECTION 1: PRINCIPLES 

(a) to preserve Inuvialuit cultural identity and values within a changing northern society; 

(b) to enable Inuvialuit to be equal and meaningful participants in the northern and national economy and society; and 

(c) to protect and preserve the Arctic wildlife, environment and biological productivity. 

Analysis

In ​Section 1, the principles of the ​Agreement between ​COPE and ​Canada are outlined. The goals of the Agreement include the preservation of ​Inuvialuit cultural identity and values in a changing northern society, ensuring that the Inuvialuit can actively participate in the northern and national economy and society on an equal and meaningful basis, and protecting the Arctic wildlife, environment, and biological productivity. These principles reflect the shared commitment to cultural preservation, economic empowerment, and environmental stewardship.
