Il Naviglio Grande

Il Naviglio Grande è un canale navigabile dell'Italia settentrionale, situato in Lombardia. Nasce dal Ticino nei pressi di Tornavento, in prossimità della località Castellana, e termina nella Darsena di Porta Ticinese a Milano. Presenta un dislivello totale di 34 metri e una lunghezza di 49,9 km. Inoltre, nel tratto da Tornavento ad Abbiategrasso ha una larghezza variabile dai 22 ai 50 metri, mentre da Abbiategrasso a Milano si restringe anche fino a 15 metri, fino ad arrivare a 12 metri nel tratto finale. Il 26 aprile 2015 inoltre, sul Naviglio Grande, è stata inaugurata la nuova Darsena che è tornata navigabile dopo 18 mesi di lavori. I lavori di ristrutturazione, hanno riguardato principalmente la ricostruzione degli argini su viale D'Annunzio e la realizzazione delle bitte per far attraccare le imbarcazioni. Sono state realizzate anche due passeggiate ciclopedonali, di cui una tra via D'Annunzio e viale Gorizia, lunga 35 metri, e un ponte sulla Conca di Viarenna.

The Naviglio Grande is a navigable canal in northern Italy, located in Lombardy. It was born in Ticino near Tornavento, near the town of Castellana, and ends in the Darsena of Porta Ticinese in Milan. It has got a total difference in level of 34 meters and a length of 49.9 km. In addition, the stretch from Tornavento to Abbiategrasso has a width varying from 22 to 50 meters. Instead, from Abbiategrasso to Milan, it also narrows up to 15 meters, up to 12 meters in the final stretch. On April 26, in 2015, on the Naviglio Grande, the new Darsena was opened, which returned navigable after 18 months of work. The renovations mainly concerned the reconstruction of the embankments on viale D'Annunzio and the construction of the bollards to dock the boats. Two cycle-pedestrian walks have also been made, one of which is between D'Annunzio Street and Viale Gorizia, 35 meters long, and a bridge over the Conca di Viarenna.
