Printing from a Chromebook

Kyocera models supporting Chrome OS

With a USB connection

  • Adding a printer requires a connection to the internet

  • Editing a printer does not require a connection to the internet


  1. Connect printer to Chromebook

  2. Go to Settings > Advanced > Printers

  3. Select Add Printer

  4. Select Add Nearby Printers to manually add a printer

  • You may need to specify the manufacturer and model

With a Network connection

Protocol

Internet Printing Protocol (IPP) and Internet Printing Protocol (IPPS)

  • Address must be valid

  • Printer has be to contactable


Internet Printing Protocol (HTTP) and Internet Printing Protocol (HTTPS)

  • Address does not have to be valid

  • Printer does not have to contactable


AppSocket (TCP/IP)

  • Address does not have to be valid

  • Printer does not have to contactable

  • Same like a Standard TCP/IP port in windows


Line Printer Daemon (LPD)

  • Address does not have to be valid

  • Printer does not have to contactable

What if there is no KYOCERA printer driver for Chrome OS?

A generic printer driver may work


  1. Select Generic from the Manufacturer list

  2. Select Generic PostScript Printer from the Model list


  • You may need to try one of the other generic printer drivers if the Generic PostScript Printer driver does not work

  • Not all Kyocera printers will work

Chromebooks support .ppd or .gzip file formats with a file size up to 250 KB.
