How to connect a printer with Wi-Fi to a Wi-Fi network
The printers only support 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks
Printer with a colour display
Select System Menu
Select System/Network
Select Network
Select Wi-Fi (Not Wi-Fi Direct Settings)
Set Wi-Fi to On
Select Setup/Quick Setup Wizard and follow the steps
Printer that does not have a colour display
5 line text display
2 line text display
Step 1 - Use a network cable to access the printer's web interface
Connect the printer to the network with a network cable
Wait ~30 seconds
Print a Status Page to get the IP address
OR
Step 1 - Use Wi-Fi Direct to access the printer's web interface
Enable Wi-Fi Direct
Press the Menu button
Navigate to Wi-Fi Direct Set (not Wi-Fi Direct)
Set Wi-Fi Direct to On
Restart the printer
Connect to the printer's Wi-Fi Direct network
Press the Menu button
Navigate to Wi-Fi Direct (not Wi-Fi Direct Set)
Navigate to NetworkName (SSID) to see the Wi-Fi Direct network name of the printer
The format is DIRECT-##########
Navigate to Password to see the Wi-Fi Direct network password of the printer
Navigate to IP Address to see the Wi-Fi Direct network IP address of the printer
The default is normally 192.168.254.241
Connect to this network from a laptop, smart phone, tablet or computer
Step 2 - Log into the printer's Command Center web page
Access the printer's web page
Log into the Command Center
Step 3 - Connect the printer to the Wireless LAN
Select Network Settings
Select Wireless LAN
Under Wi-Fi Settings
Set Wi-Fi to On
Input the exact WiFi network name into the Network Name (SSID) field
The WiFi network name will be same as what your mobile/smart phone or tablet or laptop finds
Set Network Authentication to WPA2/WPA-PSK
WARNING:-- Do not set to WPA2-PSK. You cannot set Encryption to Auto
Set Encryption to Auto
Input the WiFi password/pass code/pin code into the Pre-shared Key field
The password/pass code/pin code may be found on a label on your internet router
Select Submit
Wait ~5 minutes for the printer to re-configure all the network interfaces
Refresh the web page
Select Device Information > Configuration
Under the Network section, IPv4 (Wireless Network) will be the IP address
