How to share a folder in Apple macOS
- Apple macOS requires that user accounts must have a password set in order to authenticate access to a shared folder
- Open System Preferences…
- Select Sharing

- Select File Sharing
- Select Options…

- Select Share files and folders using SMB (Windows)
- Select check box you for the user account
- Input the password if prompted and select OK
- Select Done

- Select + (plus) under Shared Folders

- Navigate to the folder you want to share
- Select the folder
- Select Add

- Select the shared folder in the Shared Folders list
- Select + (plus) under the Users
- Select the user
- Select Select

- Select the user account in the Users list
- Set the permissions to Read & Write
- Note the
user name
- Note the
Network
- Open System Preferences…
- Select Network
- Select the network connection
- Note the IP address shown under Status
- Select Advanced…
Network
- Select WINS
- Note the NetBIOS Name value
