Apple macOS requires that user accounts must have a password set in order to authenticate access to a shared folder
Open System Preferences…
Select Sharing
Sharing
Select File Sharing
Select Options…
Sharing
Select Share files and folders using SMB (Windows)
Select check box you for the user account
Input the password if prompted and select OK
Select Done
Sharing
Select + (plus) under Shared Folders
Sharing
Navigate to the folder you want to share
Select the folder
Select Add
Sharing
Select the shared folder in the Shared Folders list
Select + (plus) under the Users
Select the user
Select Select
Sharing
Select the user account in the Users list
Set the permissions to Read & Write
Note the user name
Network
Open System Preferences…
Select Network
Select the network connection
Note the IP address shown under Status
Select Advanced…
Network
Select WINS
Note the NetBIOS Name value
