Noah's Ark in the Bible, detailed in the Book of Genesis, is the massive boat God commanded Noah to build to survive a global flood sent to cleanse the Earth of wickedness; it carried Noah, his family, and pairs of every animal, landing on the Mountains of Ararat, after which God made a covenant with Noah, symbolized by the rainbow, promising never again to destroy the world with a flood. 

The Story in Genesis:

1. God's Judgment: Seeing humanity's corruption, God decided to wipe out life with a great flood but found Noah righteous.

2. Building the Ark: God instructed Noah to build a huge vessel (ark) of gopherwood with three decks, specifying its dimensions.

3. Gathering Animals: Noah was told to bring his family and two of every kind of animal (male and female), with seven pairs of each clean animal and bird, into the ark.

4. The Flood: Rain fell for 40 days and nights, and the waters from the "great deep" burst forth, covering the earth and destroying all land life.

5. Aftermath: After months, the ark landed on the Mountains of Ararat. Noah sent out a raven and then a dove, which returned with an olive leaf, signaling dry land.

6. Covenant and Rainbow: Once dry, Noah and the creatures left the ark. God established a covenant (promise) never to flood the earth again, marking it with the rainbow. 

Key Elements:

• Symbolism: God's judgment, mercy, faithfulness, and a new beginning.

• Influences: Similar flood myths exist in Mesopotamian epics like the Epic of Gilgamesh.
