Located south of Luntai County, the Tarim Poplar Forest Park is a unique conservation area, the world's only large original poplar forest.

On A Slow Train Round The Poplar Forest

A slow train ran round a lake in the poplar forest. Accompanied by the sound of the train whistle, we traversed through a myriad of flaming poplar trees and red willows to our great delights.

Iron-like Endurance

These ancient trees, with their iron-like endurance, have stood for hundreds of years and will endure for hundreds more, immortal sentinels on the desert’s edge. They serve as a natural barrier, safeguarding the oasis that lies beyond.

Multi-use Trunks

The poplar trees have hollow tree trunks and had been used to make hollow-out boats by the early inhabitants. The poplar’s alkali secretion from the bark has medical values. 

多用途树干

杨树的树干是空心的，早期居民曾用它们来制作空心船。杨树树皮分泌的碱具有药用价值。
