During Semester One of Grade 10, we learned Music. During this time we delved deeply into the basics of Music Theory. Using the book Berklee Music Theory (Book 1), we were assigned different exercises each week.
Below is an example of one such assignment. During this time, we used our knowledge from class and/or prior experiences to answer questions usually in regards to notation, reading, notes/rests, and time signatures. I found it quite easy and simple given my prior experience in music through playing the Piano, Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, and Ukulele.
This assignment reminded me of my experiences and knowledge of music. It taught me to hone my skills and learn more if I want to pursue further into this field. Also, due to my experience in music, many peers asked me for help which furthered my cooperation and explanation skills.
In terms of ESLOs, there are three that are primarily connected with this assignment. Strategic Learners as I identified and recalled experiences from music theory, Innovative Thinkers by connecting topics from previous and other subjects as well as sharing knowledge with others, and Leaders of the Future by being an example and helping others grow.
