For the first quarter, we learned about Poetry, which included Slam Poetry. We worked in groups with our peers. For my group's theme and poem, we spread the message of assumptions and the stress from all of these expectations.
I think these are fairly good stanzas. I tried to make everything rhyme and feel cohesive while making it reflect the expectations I have and the stress and feelings I get from them. I wanted to create a story on how these assumptions and expectations can force us or make us depressed, stressed, and more. But we can use this to learn our purpose and learn the meaning of life and grow with it.
I think this was all-in-all great and provided a clear purpose and message. The only thing I may change, though would be expressing more emotion and enthusiasm.
At the end of the quarter, we were given a summative assignment to create our own poems. For mine, I tried to do a rhyme, specifically AA rhymes, or verse rhymes. The primary theme of this poem was my life and the path I am taking and going. I think it was pretty good but could have had better meter and rhyming, and been more cohesive.
I do believe, though, that it was good in the end, especially as I added unique story elements, such as rhyme, which wasn't necessary. Next time, I will mainly keep it the same but work on the meter and rhyming as well, making it sound good and catchy.
