For our Quarter 3 Biology Unit on Mitosis / Meiosis, we were required to work in pairs to create a comic book or stop motion on what we learned. This was put as our summative assessment of the topic, instead of a test. We were graded on creativity, process correctness, comparisons, and aesthetics, with 25 points total.
For the stop-motion, we used plates, string, and similar to show mitosis and meiosis. In hindsight, the video was edited too fast with no explanation. We could have slowed it down and added a voiceover explanation or some text explaining the overall process. We also focused too much on meiosis, 21 seconds of the overall video, and only 10 seconds for mitosis.
Although, I would say I learned a lot from this. I learned about the differences between Mitosis and Meiosis, the stages and what happens in each stage, and why/how. I also learned how to strategically think more about this subject and how to use more simple objects to display complex topics. More so, I learned to be an innovative thinker by creatively taking all of this and create the stop motion project.
